Matthew 22:37, Jesus said,
“…Love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and most important command.”
Wednesday evening, during our Journey through the Old Testament, I mentioned to you that this comes from Deuteronomy 6 and is referred to in the Hebrew as Shema. Is there something in your family past that you feel is necessary to let your family know and remember? I have something that I have told all of my children and I remind them from time to time. It is an important truth that I have learned that I want them to remember.
That is what this Shema is. It means to listen, to pay attention to, and to adhere to. When we love God as Jesus states here, it infects us and it becomes who we are. As a result, it affects what we say and do. It becomes important enough to relate to others.
I prayed for you today. Remember what our goal is for a better path this week – Total Commitment…Transformation Over Conformation…Knowing What God Wants Us to Do.
