More Than Something We Do.

Written By Eddie Duke

I John 3:18 reads “Little children, let us not love in word or speech, but in action and in truth.”

I realize as I read this that Love is something that we do.  It is a behavior.  It’s more than a feeling (Boston).  It’s more than what we say.   It’s more than flowers.  It’s more than a card.  It’s more than just talk.  It is an activity.

God is always putting opportunities all around us to demonstrate love.

The problem I have is that I am too distracted by the next task on my list.  I am too busy thinking more about achievements and not relationships.  Does that happen to you?    How many times have you thought that you need to write that letter or text, make that call, give some encouragement, or fill a need for a neighbor or co-worker.  I have all these good intentions, but I don’t do it. The thing is when I miss these opportunities, I miss an opportunity to do that which matters most – love.  Love is something we do.

I am praying that a better understanding of love will enable us to live a life of “lovin it!”
