Jesus Said, “Follow Me.”

Written By Eddie Duke

Matthew 9:9 reads:  “As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office, and he said to him, “Follow me,” and he got up and followed him.”

What does it mean to follow Jesus?

Jesus never once asked anyone to receive Him into their heart.  Jesus never called on people to put their faith and trust in Him.   What Jesus said was two words:  “Follow me.”

To follow Jesus means to do the things that He does, love the people He loves, and have His priorities be our priorities.  Is it important to Jesus?  To follow Him means for it to be important to us.  Follow me means that we understand that Jesus is first and we will commit to obey Him.

Francis Chan once said,

“Following Christ isn’t something that can be done halfheartedly or on the side. It is not a label we can display when it is useful. It must be central to everything we do and are.”

Come to me.  Follow me.  This is the better path for 2021.
