Jesus said, “Come to me.”

Happy New Year!!

Matthew 11:28 reads:  “Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

I have read recently that the Christian life could be summed up in three statements that Jesus made.

This is the first one:  Come to me.

It is an invitation of rest, of relief, and of hope.  He doesn’t elaborate on what He will give us rest from.  He doesn’t spend time detailing what can be fixed and in how many steps it will take.  He simply issues an invitation as the One who is the HOPE for this life.

John Piper once said “Unique to anyone else in history, Jesus simply offers Himself as the universal solution to all that burdens us.”  There is not a four-fold path, five pillars, nor any self-help (Ten Steps To …) prescription.  He is simply the answer to any question, concern, fear, or need we will ever have.

Come to me.  It’s the start to a better path for 2021.
