Get busy worrying or get busy trusting.

Philippians 4:6 says:

“Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

The character Andy Dufresne said in the movie Shawshank Redemption:  “I guess it comes down to a simple choice, really.  Get busy living or get busy dying.”  I shared in the Coffee & Jesus time yesterday that this quote came to me when I read this verse.  We are either going to worry or we are going to trust in prayer.  We can’t do both at the same time.  We can spend our time worrying about people, issues, and concerns or we can spend our time trusting God in these through prayer.

Get busy worrying or get busy trusting.

Today, write down all the things and people that you worry about.  Don’t leave anything out.  After you have completed your list, fold it up and put it in your Bible.  Don’t do any more with it today.  Continue your thank you letter to God and continue this week without complaining or griping.

Be thankful.  Our goal is to transform our heart and attitude.  We can do this.
