Let me set the stage for this verse.
God has told Joshua that they are going to cross the Jordan River in preparation for the entering into the land that God had promised them.
As He had done with the Red Sea before, God divided the Jordan River so that they could cross over.
God told Joshua to teach the children for future generations about this moment.
Joshua 4:22 reads: “Then you can tell them, ‘This is where the Israelites crossed the Jordan on dry ground.’”
In your Bible, please underline the words ‘dry ground’.
I don’t know how many times I have read that and missed that detail. What detail? The detail that God is IN the details. I mean think about how long that the Jordan River had been and has been there. The river bed must have been saturated with water.
But the Bible is clear. They didn’t walk in the mud. They walked on dry ground. There is not one detail, no matter how small, that God overlooks.
His love for us is so amazing and immeasurable that not one thing about us is overlooked or forgotten.
Augustine of Hippo (AKA St. Augustine) once said, “God loves each of us as if as if there were only one of us.”
Dry ground. He cares about the details of our life.
