Philippians 4:4 reads:
“Rejoice in the LORD always. I will say it again: Rejoice!”
Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr., was a justice of the U.S. Supreme Court for 30 years. He was known as “the greatest justice since John Marshall.” At one point in his life, Justice Holmes explained his choice of a career by saying: “I might have entered the ministry if certain clergymen I knew had not looked and acted so much like undertakers.”
No offense to undertakers! I know many and they are awesome people, but I think we get his point.
So many times Christians can live with such bitterness, sour grapes, and negativity that our very appearance can and does exude darkness.
The Bible says that it is God’s will that we have JOY always.
Joy is not happiness. It is not dependent upon good circumstances in order to appear. Bad happenings do not drive it away. The source of joy is the hope that we have in Jesus Christ. Rejoice in the LORD.
Today, we should be praying the following types of prayer: Praise, Confession, Petition (Pray and ask for the fruits of the spirit in Galatians 5:22-23), and Intercession (Pray 9-11 for the Relationship Group that we talked about last week). Pray the following for the Election:
- · People to seek God in how they vote.
- · God will fill the booths and will guide people as they vote and that we will trust Him in the results.
· As Christians, we trust God that He will provide for our needs and that He will work all things to the good for those who love Him. With that in mind, pray that we will not place issues above a desire that God will move in an incredible way in our nation.
