Romans 1:8 says:
“First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you because the news of your faith is being reported in all the world.”
In this verse, Paul begins to reveal the heart of a person who is following Jesus. Paul had not been to visit Rome when he wrote this letter and he didn’t know most of the people there, but he looked for a way to be thankful. He gave thanks based upon the reputation the church had of their strong faith. The heart of a follower of Christ is a THANKFUL heart and looks for ways to show and express gratitude.
Today, spend time putting together a letter to God to thank Him for all the blessings in your life. This may take a while. Feel free to come back to it periodically. Next, refrain from any complaining today. Look for ways to be thankful instead. I know it is going to be hard (I have already encountered a few drivers on the road today that tested me in this), but bite your lip, bear down and work at it today. Our goal is to transform our heart and attitude. We can do this.
Our memory verse this month is Galatians 5:6 –
“For in Christ Jesus
neither circumcision nor uncircumcision accomplishes anything;
what matters is faith working through love.”
