Last day of the Year. I thought about what verse would be good to consider as we come into this New Year and we contemplate how we are going to enter it. The verse that kept coming to mind is Colossians 3:17 –
“And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the LORD Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”
I want to start 2021 in this direction, with a focus on Jesus.
I realize the decisions that I make in January can and will be played out in December. It has been said that you determine your evening of your life by the morning of it. Since that is true, I want to approach 2021 on a better pathway to success. I mentioned last night in our ONLINE prayer meeting that I am hearing the phrase “path to this or path to that” lately. Mitch McConnell even said yesterday that “he can’t see an easy path to an increased stimulus.” There seems to be a lot of talk about “paths” in sports and in the news. Is there a path to a better life? Is there a path to better decisions?
I believe there is and I know you do too. The question is how? I read Greg Laurie make a statement recently that said “Here’s the wrong question to ask about the things you’re not sure about: Can I still do this and be a Christian?”
He followed that up with four questions that everyone should ask when we are considering what we should do as we follow Jesus:
· Does it build me up spiritually?
· Does it bring me under its power?
· Do I have an uneasy conscience about it?
· Could it cause someone else to stumble in their faith?
2021! Here we go. Follow us on Sunday mornings as we examine “A Better Path” as we come into a brand new season in our lives.
